So, I was sitting in my "shop" (garage) the other day and several of my neighbors just happen to walk or drive by while I was working on something I picked up off the side of the road. Based on their looks, I've decided that they all think I'm nuts. See, I had picked up a broken table that my neighbor had put our with her trash a few days earlier. It just sat there...all sad looking...and I just can't stand to see a piece of once useful furniture die a tragic death....But, I guess seeing a grown man loading someone's trash into a truck leads you to give that "...are you nuts???" kind of look.
You see, I identify with that old broken table VERY deeply! At times in my life, it has been ME who was broken...physically, emotionally, spiritually...pretty much any way you can be broken.
In spite of this, there is one thing that is always constant in my life. God's unending, unerring, and infallible GRACE & LOVE! It doesn't matter how far I fall or how hopeless the situation may seem...God is always by my side. He takes the "broken" wreck and restores me!
In so many ways, when I work with wood, I am reminded of the way Jesus takes ME and makes me whole again....just like when I take an old piece of furniture, or a scrap of wood, and can find the beauty and usefulness within. So often in life, we ignore the broken, or dirty, or old things (or people)...we just ignore them, or worse, we actually attack their existence. This is so unfortunate, because God is always there to restore all of us...NO MATTER WHAT!
Peace & Love
